Sept 2017

Wasaga was a busy tournament with 14 team playing in the sweltering sun both days, and this tournament was truly about helping out where you can. Our skills competition on Saturday had a 5 round male pitching accuracy competition to break the tie and ended without any home runner hitters! Many of our teams fought through the hot sun with back to back Sunday. We were very fortunate to be able to hear Jess Rappitt's Autism Story and have her son join us over the weekend. Congratulations to B champs The Stag Shop and A champs Sloppy Mitts on your victories. Slo-Pitch for Autism would would like to thank all of the players who pitched in helping with umpiring and the skills competition. Without all of your help this tournament would not have been such a success!!!

Once again Wasaga Beach did not disappoint. Fourteen teams took the field and showed that they were there to have fun while supporting a great cause.

On Saturday, we saw fantastic participation in the five skills comps that featured a new female hardest throw record by Malorie McRae at 63 MPH and 7 straight home runs in the home run comp by Tim Wardell.

Sunday at the prize draws we had the pleasure of hearing from many people affected by Autism. It is still the most important part of the tournament to us. We continue to learn and educate about Autism working toward the ultimate goal of understanding and inclusion.

We wish to thank Freeman Framing who donated a tabletop Weber BBQ, all of the players that stepped up to assist with umpiring and of course all of the teams that made it an enjoyable weekend.

On the diamonds Wild Bunch defeated Blue Jays in the A final while Diamond Cutters defeated Pieced Together in the B final. Congratulations.
